Baseball Season Starting
With Baseball season already started and really kicking off today, here are some pointers for baseball betting that I think are the most important, and quite often are the most ignored.
#1 Stay within your bankroll
Gambling is recreational, and betting on baseball is no different. If you want to give yourself the best chance of making some money, you must bet within your bankroll. Otherwise, you will go broke. My rules of thumb are
- no more then 15% of bankroll on one game (most of my games I bet 5% of my bankroll
- no more then 15% at risk at any time if I am betting multiple games
#2 Have multiple accounts at different sportbooks to shop lines
This will save you, which in turn makes you so much money at the end of the year. So often sportsbooks will have different lines on games. In baseball, money lines can differ all the time, and underdogs can win you more money with better lines.

Quick Baseball winner for tonight
At 10:10, Arizona plays San Fransisco. I am playing Arizona -1.5 +105 run line tonight. Looking at some recent trends and I am liking it more:

3-1 on baseball picks today, 1 more for tonight
Milwaukee money line and run line bets both win as they beat the Pirates 7-4.
Washington won 2-1 making the underdog and moneyline picks both good.
Yankees/Rays scored 10 runs, which made there game a loser. The Rays had runners at second and third with one out in the top of the 9th and could not get the run in. I am running so good that my wife distracted me enough to not get the Over/Under play in myself.
So 3-1, another 2.8 units on the plus side.
I am playing Texas +195 for 1/2 a unit. Last play of the night.

Crazy Dodger/Mets game
Well I got home around 11:15 and flip on MLB.com. I have the MLB premium package using the internet, and it is pretty sweet let me tell you. 6 games at one time, switch audio between them, crystal clear picture, streams flawlessly, have condensed games (show only 3rd strike, 4th ball, or ball in play), etc. Take a look to see 9-6 Mets, and 1-0 Padres. Both games started at the same time. The Dodgers /Mets were in the top of the 4th, while the Padres were in the bottom of the 6th. When the Dodgers game got to the 6th, the Padre game was over.
I didn't realize I was going to be watching a softball game, but that is what it turned out to be. It was supposed to be Lowe vs Glavine in a dual, but neither guy made it past the 3rd. 35 hits, the Dodgers with 19 of them, and they lose by 4. The Dodgers left at least one runner on every single inning. They left 13 on base for the game. Every time they scored the Mets answered, and they still had numerous chances to get back in the game, every inning. Very entertaining game, but frustrating as hell at the same time. The game ended at about 2AM EST.
Not as frustrating as it must have been to be Rudy Seanez though. This guy must be in the doghouse or something. He threw about 35 pitches in a game 2 days ago, and 30 last night. Dodgers got hammered in another 30 hit game 2 nights back against Philadelphia, so the bullpen was pretty much toast. So here they are 2 nights later, and they bring in Seanez for the third straight night, and he gives up 2 bombs in one inning. I felt bad for the dude.
So, my worst night in a while, going 2-3-1, but still won $22. Whee!

Early baseball pick today
Damn, I hate shooting myself in the foot with late picks, and I did again last night with the Dodgers game. Turned a really good night into a small profit. So far since the all star break, picks on the blog are now 7-3 for a nice +$505 profit, including 5-0 on money line games.
I like Houston to win today against Washington, especially . The game starts at 1:00PM EST, or about a half an hour from now. I was expecting a much higher number, somewhere in the -180's, but at -113, I see a lot of value.
