Sunday Nba picks and thoughts

Spurs +1 PLAY OF THE DAY
Boston +12.5
Lakers -11

When you get this close to the end of the season, you can pretty much throw out records and stats and matchups for most of the games. You will see some crazy lines. Most of these games mean nothing to these teams. Some teams will rest starters much more. Tread very light, only another week until the playoffs. No need to blow your roll on meaningless games before the playoffs.

Lets look at games that matter:

San Antonio at Dallas at 3:30 -
Technically I guess the Spurs could still catch the Suns for second place, but they are 2.5 games back with 3 to play. The Suns play at Houston and against the Clippers. That Clipper game may decide if the Clippers get into the playoffs. It is possible for the suns to lose both those games. The Spurs have to play 2 more games after this one against Memphis and Denver, 3 in 4 days. Both these games should be winnable. The Denver game may be a preview of their playoff series.

Dallas is in, and who knows what they think of this game. They might bring it all tonight since it is the spurs, they may rest players, lord only knows. I know that the Spurs need this more then Dallas does for sure. It should be a hell of a game, but who knows. I like the Spurs here +1.

New Jersey at Indiana 3:30 -
New Jersey is in, but they are only 1 game ahead of Orlando who should win today. Both teams would much rather play Chicago then Detroit in the first round. Indiana is barely alive and kicking. The Pacers, if they have any heart at all, should play harder then they have all year. 5 points seems like a good line on this one. Both these teams are Jekyll and Hyde all year long. PASS

Minnesota at Golden State 3:30-
Minnesota sucks and Golden State needs this game. It should be a blowout, but 16 point spread is kind of scary. They have to play back to back games on Tuesday and Wednesday against Dallas and at portland which they may need to win both, so they may be looking ahead to those games. If they are up big going into the fourth, they may rest everyone. 16 is way to many points. Pass.

Sacramento at LA Clippers 3:30-
Clippers have burned me with late opponent back door covers. I like them here to win, but 10 points is a lot against a Sacramento team that can score points. Pass.

Boston at Orlando 6:00
Orlando is 2 games ahead of Indiana for the 8th seed and only one game behind New Jersey for the 7th, so they need this one. Boston is the BEST road team against the spread all year long. 12.5 points is a lot to ask for of Orlando.

Boston +12.5

Seattle at Lakers 9:30
The Lakers have played it perfectly to keep the #7 spot and play the Suns in round 1. I like them to blowout the Sonics big time to get back in the swing of winning games.

Lakers -11
